Tango

The dance often used in films to express a passion between two protagonists. When the protagonists first go their separate ways, only to find their way back to each other with a jolt.

What kind of dance do we mean? The tango, of course! Tango is a dance full of passion, expression and energy. The women in elegant, flattering dresses and the men in white shirts, black pants. Together they float on the floor. The typical image. The tango is danced with a tight posture to make the passion of this dance even more apparent.

The dance has its roots in the border region between Argentina and Uruguay. Since 1880, tango has continued to grow and thus also became an expression of international understanding, as its roots go back to a union of slaves and European immigrants.

Tango is the result of the combination of many dances: the waltz, polka, mazurka, Scottish and Cuban national dances, as well as African candombe and, of course, Argentine dances such as the Argentine milonga.

Most of the time, tango music was played in the ports of the cities to entertain the sailors while they worked in the harbour. In the early 20th century, tango came to Europe and was played by dancers and orchestras in the capitals of the western world. In 1913, the tango wave came to America and was adapted in New York City. Therefore, you will be surprised that in its 140 years of existence and a few trips around the world, the Tango has developed some styles. If you want to know what styles tango has to offer, then feel free to come to us.

"In Tango, it's not about showing off figures or poses. It's about expressing feelings.

To be able to dance Tango, my boy, you must listen to the heartbeat of a woman." - Cacho Dante
